Miia Mäkinen is a Visual Artist (MA) from Rovaniemi Finland. Her artworks reflect on Arctic nature, fauna and people in a dreamlike and playful style that arises during an intuitive working process. As an artist, she is interested in taking a stand and the desire to participate in social discussion through the means of art. Mäkinen combines traditional soft craft skills with contemporary art. Social, cultural and ecological sustainability form the value base for her work. Mäkinen uses various techniques and materials in artistic expression, such as painting, soft crafts installations, and snow and ice art methods. Mäkinen is a member of the Lapland Artists' Association and belongs to many different art collectives.
